1)      Brent welcomed the newly elected Board Member, Jon Long, Sr. to the Board and announced the alternate Board Members, Virginia Fields and Kara D’Aquino. The Board thanked Loyal Willis for his service the past three years as a Board member and, as developer and ‘caretaker’ of Duquette Pines for the past 35 years! What we have in Duquette is directly attributable to the hard work and care Loyal and Barbara Willis provided. Our appreciation and thanks !

2)      The minutes of the July 11, 2006 meeting were unanimously approved. Current account balances were reported at: Checking - $4,000.67 and Reserve - $94,066.40.

3)      Building plans: no new plans at this meeting.

4)      Managers report:

·        Jim advised that he will continue to leave the gates open during this active construction and property sales period.

·        Speed Bumps: The Board approved the purchase of additional speed bumps. Jim has located a local company through which we can purchase without additional shipping charges.

·        Jim reported on new water connections for the month.

·        Gate openers have been ordered and Theresa will pick up and deliver to Jim to program.

5)      Wildfire – Grant/property assessments. Forester Max Muffly attended our August 8 meeting to give us an update on the $45,000 wildfire fuels reduction grant. He was joined by Gordon Ravenscroft, the County's Disaster Services coordinator. Max and his colleague Don Dittmer will be contacting residents, starting next week, to pass out their completed assessments. That will be followed by actual on-the-ground work, including the use of a mulcher. Max and the Board agreed that the properties adjacent to BLM land are most at risk and will receive their immediate attention.
They hope to be able to work on about 45 properties this year, including some not adjacent to BLM land. Gordon is applying for additional grant money for next year, to finish the job. As we mentioned before, this is a volunteer program, but we believe it is a worthwhile one that allows homeowners to receive valuable assistance with only some "sweat equity" as a match. For more information, contact our Manager, Jim White, at 392-4561. Max reminded us of the importance of getting the BLM to continue work on their holdings to the west of the subdivision. He promised to do what he could for us in that regard, since he trained most of their foresters!
